(nee Mahon) (2nd January)margaretkeen@aol.com | I attended KSS between 1965 and 1969 and would like to hear from anyone who may remember me, particularly (in no order) Hazel Booth, Linda McIntyre, Katrina Kinnear, Agnes McLean, Kate McDowall, Phyllis Kennedy, etc. Hope everyone is doing well and some of you get in touch soon. |
(2nd January)weeman@hotmail.com | I was a pupil at Knightswood Secondary between 1965 and 1968. My main interest at school was appearing in the annual shows. I played the part of 'baby John' in 'West Side Story' and I also took part in 'Carousel'. I would love to talk to anybody who attended Knightswood during the years mentioned. |
(nee Clugston) (5th January)laura_scouller@hotmail.com | I lived at Anniesland and left KSSS in 1974. My friends then were Annette Taylor, Linda Sword, Elaine Cairns, Cathy Gilmour, Findlay Gilfillan and Ian Meldrum. I married John Scouller who lived on Friarscourt Avenue and went to St Thomas Acquinas School. We moved to Peterborough, east of Toronto, Canada about twenty years ago and would like to hear from anyone who knew us. |
(7th January)rayment@optusnet.com.au | I attended KSSS between 1967-72 and was known as Tony the Sassenach! I am looking for Ian Ross who attended at the same time but left a year earlier than me. Does anyone have any information as to Ian's whereabouts, please. |
(8th January)stu1@austarnet.com.au | I was amongst the first students to attend the "new Knightswood" after spending some time at St Brendans, I think it was called, whilst they finished building the new school. I left there in 1959 and started my apprenticeship at Barr & Stroud at Anniesland and eventually ended up in Australia in 1968. I worked for the Department of Defence and now live in the bush about 400 miles inland from Sydney. I am retired, enjoying the fruits of my labours, and thanking the best teachers I could ever have asked for. I am seeking the whereabouts of May Stankey, as she was known then, and wondering how life had treated her and anyone else who remembers me. If this rings a bell to anyone who was at Knightswood SS then please get in touch. Thanks, take care all, by. |
(Nee Miller) (12th January)jcpoir@sympatico.ca | I only attended Knightswood School for a short time between 1965-66 and then my family emigrated to Canada. I am planning on coming home and would be pleased to hear from anyone who has any knowledge of any of my relatives, in particular Anne Miller who attended KSS (1964-68). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |
(18th January)linzi.mills@ntlworld.co.uk | I attended KSS from 1977-81 and was known as Mulsy! I used to live in Rotherwood Avenue but now live in Milngavie. I would like to hear from anyone who remembers me. |
(2nd February)billpav@altavista.com | Hi all, just discovered the site and thought I'd leave a hello to all who attended 1968-72, happy days, well some were. Be nice to hear from all the 1F1s and such, too many names to mention. Maybe we should have a nickname board, might be easier to remember who's who lol. Take care all anyway. |
(2nd February)charles.mcgowan@sympatico.ca | I have just spoken with my good mate Ian Chalmers by phone who told me of the site. I attended the school from 1963-66 and was known as 'Chic'. I created a bit of a stir at the end of one term by wearing a Beatle cap, a cordouroy jacket and a Motown t-shirt to assembly before the break! I wore a pink waiter's jacket with a seventeen inch vent to the trip on the 'Waverley' and have the photograph to prove it. Does anyone have a class photograph? I hung about with Ian and Wullie Chalmers, Gary Hamilton, Johnny and Plum Philips, Lee Maxwell, Ann Waterston, Jackie Thomas and her friend Janice. I have some great memories from school and now realize how lucky we all were, even if we didn't realize it until it was too late.I now live in Richmond Hill (north of Toronto, Ontario). I know I have many friends and a few enemies out there that might want to track me down or hunt me. I also know that Gary Hamilton and Anne Carlaw are looking for friends, so drop me a note. |
(nee Gray) (3rd February)dawncollin@hotmail.com | CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE! Did you know my Dad - DUNCAN GRAY? Do you remember my Dad? Dad lived in Sutcliffe Road with his Father and sisters and attended Temple Primary School before going to KSSS between 1958-62. When he left school he joined Yarrow, Shipbuilders, on the Clyde. My Dad died a few weeks ago and I have no photos of him before the age of 18. I have searched all the photos on the site but realised I wouldn't know Dad if I fell over him. I know so very little of his schooldays and would welcome any information, even a tiny bit, if you can remember him. Thank you in advance. Dawn |

(19th July)daveycurran@btinternet.com | I married the School Captain, have two kids, one grandson, grey hair, overweight. How long does a diet take????? Came to KSSS in 1969-joined the year that started in 1964. All interested please get in touch, Davey |
(9th August 2002)bryan@antaigh.fsnet.co.uk | CALLING ALL WHO LIVED IN KNIGHTSWOOD OR ATTENDED KNIGHTSWOOD SCHOOL IN THE 1930'S, 1940'S AND EARLY 50'S I have recently had a book published titled "Bankhead --The Story of a Primary School at War". So far it has sold over 500 copies. The book is available in the bookshops of the Glasgow Museum and Art Gallery and the Scotland street School Museum. I am now collecting information for a book with a working title "Children of Knightswood" and although I am receiving a fair amount of information from ex-pupils from my old schools Bankhead and Victoria Drive, I need accounts of school life (1930s, 1940's and early '50s) from Knightswood School. The main theme is what it was like to be brought up in Knightswood with regards to such things as diet, health, games played, going trips, cinema, holidays, school experiences, the blitz, evacuations---all sorts of childhood experiences. Knightswood School must of course have as high a profile as the other schools in the area or immediate environs. Photographs would play a big part and I already have pictures depicting school events at Victoria drive. Copies of such photographs are technically easy to obtain and of good enough quality. Hope you can be of some help no matter how small. Bryan Cromwell (Age 66---very very young for my age--never really matured!!) |
